The two primary wireless survey types are predictive, and active. 

• Predictive: A predictive survey can be used as a cost effective estimating tool for hardware ordering and cabling vendor engagement. There is not usually a site visit with a predictive survey, and instead the building dimensions are input into a tool that will help model a solution. 
• Active: An active survey involves the same building dimensions and software, but includes an onsite visit with active scanning of the environment, to provide a more precise and final solution.
